Procardia

After two shots of terbutaline my heart rate got up too high for the third round. The doctor gave me procardia to slow my heart rate, and it is also used to stop pre term labor. It did the job, and I was discharged at 6 a.m. this morning. Brandon and Axton picked me up and with a quick McDonalds trip we were home. Now I will be taking procardia twice a day until my next appointment which is Thursday, December 27. Thankfully I got to come home with orders to rest but not put on bed rest. I sure am glad for Christmas break.

First Hospital Visit

It is December 21, 2012 4:03 a.m. And I am sitting or lying rather on a hospital bed with an iv in my left arm. I started having contractions regularly three days ago. Tonight they began every four minutes. After a whole iv bag of fluid, they are still 3-4 minutes apart, so I just got a shot of terbutaline. I will have another shot in twenty minutes. If that doesn't work they will start a magnesium drip. Lord, please stop these contractions. I am so hungry haha and my heart is racing from this medicine. Geeze!! On a happy note, Aimree looks great! That a way to be a trooper :)

The Things People Say

Being pregnant opens the door for many types of feedback, both positive and negative. I don't mind the belly rubbing or the questions of when you're due, but what I do mind is when people think it is absolutely okay to talk about how fat they think you are. Even though they don't say, "wow, you are fat," they say "your butt is wide and your hips are huge! Your belly is big too!" Seriously, we are people carrying a baby and yes we gain weight, but it is never okay to be rude. Our pregnant feelings do get hurt. Gaining weight is a part of pregnancy. I don't even mind the comments about how my belly has grown. I think only positive feedback is necessary and when in doubt leave your thoughts to yourself.

26 weeks Pregnant

At 26 weeks pregnant, I feel good for the most part. I have a few contractions daily since about 20 weeks pregnant, but no dilation :). My hydroxyprogesterone shots are doing their job. Brandon hit a nerve the first time I think because my behind to my foot was throbbing. Bless his heart. The only side effects are swelling and drowsiness the day of. I am thankful for not having to wear a pump this time.

I feel her kicking all the time. She is rowdy and makes me smile already. Axton asks about her all the time and kisses my belly.

My lower back is the worst part so far. By the time I get off work, I just want to sit down. I have enjoyed yoga with this pregnancy, and I have tried to stay active.

So far, thank you God for a great pregnancy.
