Belated Happy Father's Day to My Dad

Happy Father's Day Daddy!

As you can see, my Daddy does not like to be in front of the camera. I don't think I have one picture of him smiling on purpose. I am thankful for my Daddy, because he has gone above and beyond to make sure that I am taken care of. He has fought for me since I was born. I won't go into detail, because it is personal, but my biological mom and my Daddy got on the wrong road in the late seventies when my bio found out she was pregnant. While my Daddy was strong enough to get back on the right path, she wasn't. It was a constant battle to "babysit" her while she was pregnant with me. He made sure that she didn't do anything to harm me. When I was born my parents split up, and my Daddy thought he would be raising me alone and was okay with that at this point. However, my bio decided to try to straighten up and did for a few months, I believe. During that time I was back and forth between my parents, and it wasn't soon after that my bio began her old habits, only this time she took me and ran. When my Daddy found where I was he took me, packed everything up, and moved us to Texas. We were there until I was about two. My Nana, which is my bio's mom, had my Daddy arrested for kidnapping, so I was sent back to live with my bio. The court system is awful, and I feel so sorry for the children that go through this everyday. I wish I could help them somehow. After many attempts to gain custody of me, my Daddy finally won. He was able to gain the trust of neighbors that lived where my bio and I did. The neighbors reported to the cops that on countless occasions I was left alone at the age of two. While I do not remember most of this, thank goodness, I do remember some things and it effects me still, but in a different way now. I have accepted what happened, forgiven her, and thanked God for protecting me. I know that God had and still has a plan for me, and that this happened for a reason. I believe that one of those reasons is to reach out to people and be able to relate to others. So, this is one of the many reasons why I am thankful to have my Daddy.

I love you Daddy!

Favorite memories: fishing trips to the lake, Family Night Fridays, Sunday Lake Day, Softball years with him as my coach

My favorite now moments: watching my Daddy play with Axton, riding four wheelers, trips to the hunting camp

I look forward to many more memories!

Happy Father's Day Brandon Westmoreland!

Happy Father's Day to my husband, Brandon!

To surprise Daddy, Axton and I bought some DIY stepping stones from Wal-Mart. Axton looked so cute getting ready to prep the mixture.

Axton painted this one all by himself. I added the border and eventually helped him color in all the white spots. He was so excited that he took it to Brandon as soon as he got home. It was not yet Father's Day, but oh well :), it was cute!

This one is my absolute favorite of course! I painted this one, and I hope that it lasts forever! Axton picked out the tiles and the colors.

The finished product :)

Now he wanted to color while I painted, and this is the face he made when I said to smile.

The actual day of Father's Day!

I babysat my friend Laura's children for her and her husband to have a getaway. She has a 2 year old and   a 6 month old. I love both of the girls and was super excited to have them. I had all these intentions to take a lot of pictures today, but I only took a few before church. I give props to parents with multiple children. WHoo I am pooped lol!
Hannah showing off her rollers before church
Ax felt left out so I included him in a picture too. I was going to anyway, just after he was dressed. It turned out being the only one I took. During this time, Emily was taking a nap with Brandon and Ax and I prepared his card. Axton picked this one out.

I listed ten reasons why Brandon is a good dad, and Ax left him a note too. He also made him a picture at church. It was so sweet.
The tenth reason is blurred because when I read it I didn't like how it sounded. So, the tenth reason is that Brandon is a great dad because he is willing to do anything it takes to keep his family together!

His gift is a weekend family getaway to the Fulilove Shack in Clarksdale, MS. I know it sounds funky, but it will be so relaxing and good for our family. I am excited to hear some blues music and try to play the old piano in the shack.

We love you Brandon!

This is where we will spend our weekend! I can't wait!

The poem

When Brandon and I were about to get married this poem that I am posting was accompanied by a note and was delivered to my room. The poem, note, and a pair of socks that said, "In case you get cold feet" were there thirty minutes before the time for me to walk down the aisle. Needless to say, I had to reapply my make-up and was fifteen minutes late walking down the aisle. I am posting the poem, because it still brings tears to my eyes and reminds me that I do love him ha ha! Our 3 year anniversary is coming up, and I always look back at it around this time. Now, I have it stored for life.

"My Angel"

I am now ready to start my life with my true love
When I met you I knew God had sent me my angel from above

You were gorgeous and spoke to me with true meaning
Our hearts fluttered and trembled as we both were dreaming

This angel was nothing like no other
You cared for me, loved me ,and showed me you'd be a good mother

My love grew for you as the months went by
I asked you to marry me and you started to cry

I told your dad I would take care of you and not to worry
That our life long journey was going to be a true love story

We moved and both started working
I in the casino and you teaching

We grew stronger and stronger together
As we both relied and depended on each other

Now, it is time for the bride and groom to say their vows
As everyone in the crowd greets them with smiles

I take your hand and say I Do
You look at me and say I love you

We walk down the aisle as a couple binded as one
As the bride you're glad that part is done

Everyone clapped and was cheering
As I looked up and thanked God for my angel, Destin!!

This poem means a lot to me and makes me smile :) I hope that someone else gets a smile out of it too!

True Grit

Thursday night Brandon and I decided to stay up late and watch movies. We watched "Just Go With It" and "True Grit".  Both were great and so very different. "Just Go With It" was corky and a true comedy. I love Jennifer Anniston  and Adam Sandler. If you haven't seen it and need a good laugh, you should rent it. Now, "True Grit" was the exact opposite, it was an action packed western with a modern twist. This is not normally my type of movie, however the young girl, Hailee Steinfield, was a great actress who caught my attention quick with her stubbornness and eagerness to catch her father's killer. Jeff Bridges is one of my faves and played the part perfectly. I love his voice :) This is a DVD to own for sure!

So the question poses, How true is your grit??
In the film Jeff Bridges turns out to be a very true soul who carries Hailee countless miles after being snake bitten. He makes it to the out-skirt of town where he finds enough strength to shoot his gun for help, then collapses.

We love our movie dates!

Friday morning Brandon woke up with a stuffy nose and swollen head so he took off work. Axton was so happy that he was singing daddy's home yeah yeah yeah daddy's home!!!

We went window shopping for the boat of our dreams haha, but quickly concluded that we cannot afford one right now. It was still fun though. Then, we went to my friend Lindsey's to see Ashton and Ty and let the boys swim for awhile. After we left there we decided we were tired, but hungry so we went to Longhorn Steakhouse :) Yum Yum!

Brandon left to dj at Facello's so I decided to take on a massive task. Ax and I began the process of switching his room with the guest room since his room has a small closet and less room to play. We made it without any broken bones and I will post pics tomorrow!

Now, we are off to Greenville, MS for my friend Niki Turnipseed's wedding. You go girl! I will post pics tomorrow.

Summer Days

Today, my son and I have been playing outside and soaking up some rays! I am loving my quality time with my son, Axton. He is two years old and is a definite spit fire. I posted a picture above to show you how handsome he is. This picture is from his second birthday party. His bucket was a gift from our very creative friend Mary Beth. Thanks :)

I am currently working on adding a photography page to my blog. I am a new blogger, and so far enjoying it :).  If you have any suggestions on how to add a page please HELP lol.

I am an aspiring photographer looking for some clients to photograph. I enjoy family portraits, photographing birthday parties, maternities, weddings,  nature shots, and would love to start taking extracurricular photos such as but not limited to T-ball, gymnastics, softball, karate, dance etc...

Here are a few of my favorites so far.

Please contact me if you are interested, via email dwestmoreland22@gmail.com

Now, I am off to a Stella and Dot orientation to see if it is something I would be interested in.
